Utilization of Magnet Schools
The school district strives to have the utilization of all schools between 85% and 105% of their current capacity. The 2011-2012 Utilization of each magnet school helps determine the number of new magnet openings a school may offer for the 2012-2013 magnet lottery.

Special Information: Southside Middle School is an ESOL center with more than 20 languages represented on our campus—we are truly a world microcosm within the city of Jacksonville! We have several programs to help our students become successful such as TEAM UP sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Jacksonville, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) designed to prepare students for high school and college success and a variety of enrichment courses such as Band, Chorus, Art, Technology, French and Spanish. We also have a number of business partners including the Southside Businessmen’s Club and Junior Achievement. Southside is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. These schools are pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that (these schools) believe is important for their students. Only schools authorized by the IB organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme (DP).
