Montessori
In the Montessori program, children interact in a non-competitive and peaceful learning environment. Through the use of specialized hands-on materials, students have the opportunity to advance at their individual academic levels. International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP)
Start the path to EXCELLENCE at R. L. Brown Elementary! R. L. Brown is a Candidate School that is seeking authorization by the International Baccalaureate Organization in 2008. The PYP aims to develop the individual talents of students through intellectual rigor and high academic standards with an emphasis on the ideals of international understanding and responsible citizenship. Gifted and Academically Talented
R.V. Daniels Elementary offers our little Eagles a challenging curriculum and a rich variety of activities and resources. Located on Jacksonville's Southside, Englewood Elementary encourages students to master academic standards through a blend of literacy and technology. Students attend media classes and use Accelerated Reader, a computer program which assesses and rewards individual reading comprehension. Both the Accelerated Reader and STAR Reading programs can be accessed in the classroom. At Lake Forest, everyone is a treasured star! Lake Forest is dedicated to academic excellence with a standards-based curriculum integrated with advanced studies in the visual and performing arts. As a whole school magnet, all students in grades K-5 receive the arts in a regular resource rotation as well as full arts integration in the academic classes. Highly qualified professionals will offer effective educational programs that blend mathematics, science and pre-engineering concepts with an exciting student-centered, hands-on approach in a nurturing environment. Students engage in scientific exploration in a special laboratory setting with a full-time science coach. Students also explore the importance of mathematics in real-life situations through the hands-on application of the Problems, Challenges and Solutions (PCS) engineering program. Pine Forest School of the Arts is the only dedicated elementary arts magnet school in Duval County. International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP)
As a part of the new Magnet Schools Assistance Program Grant, Rufus E. Payne Elementary is just beginning the journey to become an authorized Primary Years Programme (PYP). The PYP is designed to offer an interdisciplinary curriculum structured around important concepts. Education for understanding is the fundamental principle of the program where teaching and learning follow an inquiry-based approach. Interdisciplinary units provide a context in which students can acquire essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Students actively engage in the learning process. There is a focus on internationalism and global awareness. The PYP will build on and align with the standards-based curriculum that is already in place. Project EDGE is available for eligible students. Students receive program continuity to an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and tiered continuity to James Weldon Johnson, Darnell-Cookman and Kirby- Smith middle schools.

San Pablo provides opportunities for academic excellence through an enriched and integrated curriculum. Gifted and Academically Talented
The Susie Tolbert Gifted and Academically Talented Magnet School for grades 3, 4 and 5 holds students to a very high standard. Students at Susie Tolbert are challenged four days a week with gifted instructional strategies that are infused throughout the curriculum while still receiving a full day for the gifted services once a week. Project-Based Technology
